Camillus-Becker BK7 vs. Ontario-Randall Rat7:

Anyone own/use both of these knives. If you do; what do think about versatility, ease of sharpening, grip comfort, anything else that comes to mind. I have the BK10 nad am pleased with it, but am considering a larger tool.

Depends on your hand size, it seems to me, The RAT has a smaller grip, and is different in the shape. The Becker is like almost all other Beckers. Which one do you like the best?

I have both but have just started with them. On first impression, the rounded handle of the BK-7 is easier to hold, I have never cared for the "slab side" shape. The finger notch on the choil of the RAT-7 makes it much easier for "delicate" use in choking up. The RAT-7 feels just a small touch handle heavy, but I really have to try to notice. They both feel solid and sit well in the hand. I really have not done a lot of cutting, extende use, etc with them yet so I can not comment on your other questions. The sheath on each seem a horse apiece, not a lot of difference in either except the color. Hope this is of some small help.

seems to me that if you're going to spend that much you might as well get a swamp rat knife, like the howling rat.

I own both Knives, and I really like the Micarta handled Rat 7 better.

I only have the Becker Crewman(BK10) presently. Having read the replies I am leaning toward the RAT. If it doesn't live up to expectations I can always pick up a BK9 afterward and have a wide range of sizes covered.
