put the micarta handles i just made for the FPR onto the FFG. looks good.
put the stippled black handles back onto the FPR. they match the etching.
i'll end up making another set of micarta, but for now i think i'm going to use them as is, see what i think of stippled handles vs micarta handles after extended use.

should also be very very fun to compare slice-iness and function of the two versions over the next couple months!

Nice! I still want to smash the engraving machine at SMKW with a burning sledgehammer. B@stards!

Please sir...manufacture that micarta. Even the shape of it looks awesome, don't hate me if i ever attempt to copy it lol.

Wow, there are some nice micarta makers out there. Those are awesome. I would buy some of those in a heartbeat.

thanks for all the compliments, gentlemen.

haze, have at it. post pics. use one of the 19 machaxes currently in the mail to you to help shape it. it'll add character.

--if you ever want to know where i got the barbwire micarta slabs, just pm me sometime. or google 'barbwire micarta'. i'm pretty sure that would work. it comes from a supply site in one of our bigger states where there are lots of cowboy hats. and strip clubs. from what i hear.

Awesome micarta and etching you got going there. I haven't stripped any of my knives yet and I was wondering, how does the 1095 hold up against oxidation without the coating?

With bluing and/or oiling, just fine, without, well if you live in Florida like I do, you'll get a lot more rust when you Clich your knife......

Thank you oxide. I was wondering because I am in a moist environment and I really enjoy the look of a stripped knife.

Knives take maintenance.

Wipe it down once in a while with an oily rag and don't put it away wet and you wont see much rust. If you use your knife the coating will wear off eventually anyway.

I guess if you live in a really moist environment you might have to go so far as wiping with an oily rag every time you use it but is that 10 seconds of maintenance really enough to keep you from enjoying the benefits of a stainless blade?

Check out silicon impregnated rags (usually in the gun cleaning section of your sporting goods store). I live about 1/4 mile from Lake Michigan and it's always humid. I sometimes wipe it with mineral oil, but usually just wipe it with the silicon cloth and it's good to go.

WOW, that FFG is sexy. So if I order one from Tomars I'll get the FFG? Cuz the one in the pic looks like the saber:confused: Of course you guys scooped them up so fast that they were pretty much on back order right after the finally came in,lol
