I have a military, which I am very impressed by. I have a g10 tirade on order - anyone have both? What are the differences/advantages, etc of each? Thanks.

I really like both. The spyderco, is lighter, and I think, is one heck of a folder. The G10 tyrade, seems to be super strong, good steel, and asisted open. it fits the hand real good. I also think, it is a real bargin, for the price. Got a g10 version, in my pocket as I type this. I would say, you could not go wrong, with either.

I really don't like recurves. Some love 'em, some hate 'em, I'll take the knife sans recurve over the recurve any day.

Military get's my vote here. It's just an amazing classic design that you have to experience to understand. It will seem huge at first, but give it a week and everything else will seem tiny and you'll wonder how you got along without it.

I own both and that is tough choice. They are very different knives. The Military is slimmer, lighter, has a finger choil, and has a full flat grind with a wicked sharp tip. The Tyrade is thicker, fills the hand better, has a stupid thick liner lock, CB blade of 154CM and CPM D2, assisted opening (which I love), a recurved blade (which I also love), and a generally more robust blade that is thick as a brick. I really enjoy carrying and using both. It sounds crazy, but what does it for me is the fact that the Tyrade offers tip up carry.

The nod goes to the G-10 Kershaw Tyrade on this one.

Now if you're comparing the Ti Tryade, well there really is no comparison until the Ti Millie comes out.

I LOVE my Kershaw Tyrade (I have the titanium, frame locked one). Fantastic knife.

The only problem that I face with it is that I choose to be more cautious rather than less, and carrying an AO is sometimes problematic. Around the house, in the woods, the knife feels very, very solid. I love the titanium frame lock.

I would really like to pick up a Spyderco Military to compare them, the Millie is definitely on my to buy list. Looking forward to to your comparisons!
