I gave the Scrap Yard 911 and CS Trailmaster a bit of a comparison this morning. Great blades of similar spec, interesting results. This is by no means a 'competition', just a fun comparison. Enjoy...

Awesome video Rob!!!
Man, that is some HARD wood you got there!

Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!

Nice video Rob.
Any one knows why the TM has that blade guard? The top part is in the way big time.

Great work and comparison, Rob--thank you!

How does your dead-blow hammer stand up to pounding knife spines? Is it durable enough to take a lot of that kind of work?

Thanks again!
Will

Just picked up a Sykco 911 --- glad to see how well it holds its own! Awesome vids and 2 great knives. Cheers Rob!

Thanks for the well done video. My "respies" are the Battle Rat and Dog Father LE. Did not realize how much I would enjoy those handles...;-)

Mate the knife spines are pretty rough on the hammer. That one there has had about 2 winters worth of bashing. I have a new one but I'm going to get as much life out if this one as I can first. I find using these hammers a lot easier than using an ordinary wooden baton or even another kind of mallet. The rubber head mallets don't last long at all unfortunately. The heads always break off, which is a shame because the heads on those seem to be the most resilient to the beatings. So I opted for one piece dead blow hammers. They seem to last the longest.

ETA - Certain blade geometry does play a big role in how long these things last too. The Nuclear Meltdown blades, especially the fatties, are the most kind on the hammer.

Thanks, Rob. I have one (dead blow) but had been reluctant to use it except in case of emergencies (beating on the spine of a knife I don't want to mark up :D). They don't look that durable--glad to know it will at least stand up to some good extended bashing before giving up the ghost.

Awesome Rob. Thanks. I actually thought I was going to see you lose you righ hand at 4:06! Yikes!
