Competition finish a potential rust problem under handle scales?

Hey dudes,
Here's a pic of my Busse TGLB that Busse put right for me after sending it back a couple of times. I have to say that they went out of their way to make it right and, upon request, even sharpened the choil for me (for use with a firesteel). There was some confusion about how I wanted the finish done and, instead of the tanker grey I requested they shipped me the knife in competition finish. I was a little irritated at first but liked the look so much (and the fact that bare steel is easier to keep clean in a survival situation) I decided not to send it back a third time. In retrospect I'm a little worried that, if pressed into hard use in the field under the very wet conditions we have in Brithish Columbia, corrosion might get under the handle scales and be next to impossible to control. Any thoughts on this?
