Hi guys,

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but what exactly is the competition finish?

I'm assuming its the finish of the knife before they apply the coating?

Were these knives made in order for people to do the polishing themselves if they chose to do so?

I'm primarily interested in the Hellrazor in this finish. Is there any practical advantages/disadvantages to this version over the regular version of the HR?

Thanks for the assist!

Mark,
You are correct that the finish is before "the finish" The disadvantage to this is the blade has to be polished to get the decarb (I believe it is called) off of the blade or it will rust. The advantage is that they are ready to go beat especially if you are opposed to scuffing up a painted blade. It is a competition grind making them more of a slicing/cutting blade but not as well suited for say chopping. I hope this helps. If you search, you can find where the Boss Man shows the comp finish and talks about the blade etc... There are several threads about them rusting. Happy reading! Remember, a rusty Busse is better than no Busse at all!
