Maybe look at a KA-BAR and Swamp Rat.

Try Camillus' line of military fixed blades. If you want something about the same size as the SEAL Pup, try looking at the CUDA CQB4. Hope this helps.

The Becker Companion has a much more ergonomic, versatile and more durable grip, with a stronger blade and point profile. The cutting ability should be high as would the assisted chopping ability. Edge holding and durability, and sharpening would all favor the Companion. The price is similar or cheaper. Swamp Rat knives offer models in that price range which have an even greater performance increase, but will cost you significantly more.
