Wondering if anyone else here shoots long range competitively, mainly with .223/5.56? I'm building a new AR15 match service rifle in .223 and am looking for some good accurate load recipes to start with for 75-90 grain bullets. I am just getting into .223 for competition as I've always shot other calibers for over 2 decades. Funny, this is actually my first .223 ever, lol!

I mainly shoot long range silhouette but this rifle I'm building will be service rifle legal and I would also like to do some XTC or 3x600 matches with it.

Well if you want to shoot those heavy loads you're going to want a 1/7" twist barrel from what I understand, as I'm sure you know.... So it can stabilize the heavier ammo. Haven't done any competition shooting myself but I did just build a nice midlength AR in 223.

Yep, I ordered my White Oak match barrel yesterday in 1:7. 1:8 can stabilize some of the 80 grain bullets for mid range work but is marginal at 1K, so I went with a true 1:7 though some say a 1:6.5 is needed for the 90 gr VLD. Barrel is 20" HBAR with rifle gas.
