Complaint about my Old Glory Arclite...

It just about cut my finger off last night. 8 stitches or so later, i had time to think about why when leaving the emergency room.
The knife arrived in the mail yesterday afternoon. The knife wasn't in the sheath, to my surprise. I put it in(it was difficult, even more so then my regular arclite when it arrived, but i guessed it was from the coating of the Flag decoration) and was thinking about what a great knife it should be until i tried to take it out of the sheath. I almost broke the chain! It would NOT come out! I finally got it out by pulling with my full strength on the handle while holding onto the tec-lok with my other hand. I liberally applied some lubricating oil to it thinking that after a a few pulls it would get better.
It didn't. It was just as hard as before, so i put it up since i had a graduation to attend. I get back from the graduation around 10:00, and decided to pull out the knife. I had the same problem as earlier. This time, i was pulling as hard as a can just to try to draw it from the sheath(i'm by no means cosidered a weakling, i lift weights and practice martial arts). I get to pulling so hard that my finger is just past the rivet hole in the kydex for a tek-lok that is closer to the blade. When the knife finally bursts out of the sheath, it catches my finger and cuts it to the bone 1/3 around my index finger. My finger wasn't in the wrong place, i always hold my regular arclite that way when drawing with 2 hands and have never come close to being nicked. I'm wondering if perhaps i could be sent an adequate sheath to prevent another potential trip to the E.R.?

Martial Life,
We sincerely hope everything[your finger] is OK? I can't imagine how the knife could become so lodged in the sheath to cause this much trouble to withdraw the blade, but of course, we will take care of your knife and sheath. Please call 800-344-0456 and speak to Wendy, she will take care of getting your mailing address and getting a new sheath out to you.

Take care of that finger! and with sharp knives, when in doubt, don't force it! I know from experience with other knives:rolleyes:

Martial Life,
Don't you hate when a new knife bites you.
From past experiences I have found that the usual problem is that the knife is cursed. But do not fear I can take the curse off. Since I live a stones throw away from the Cuterly I can get all the majic stuff to mix together to lift that curse. Lets see I will need some Nine mile creek water, some wastebeds soil,a drop of Will's blood etc.
Then it is a simple matter of storage in my collection. So give it up.
Send it to me !
Good Collecting !

Not to be a troll, but the i live in the Midwest. Wendy's off work by the time i get off the job(half an hour earlier, in fact). Is there any way we could do this via email?

Nah, JOCKO, it's not cursed, they're just getting acquainted! If it were to get a tendon or something bad like that, then it might be cursed.

m_l,
You could try heating the sheath with a hair dryer, and gently twisting the blade. Start out slow. Heat it 'til it's warm, give it a twist, let it cool, see if the knife is easier to remove. If not, heat it a little more, try again, and so on. It may take several tries to get it where you want it, but it's better to go slow, since it's easier to loosen it up a little at a time than to remold it if you go too far.
Worked great on the AL I had, which originally needed two hands also, and busted the chain the first time I tried to remove it from the sheath.

Agree with Owen M about re-shaping the sheath. I have also had success with dunking the sheath in boiling water until the plastic became pliable.
