I ordered a CRKT Drifter last week after hearing countless good reports on it. I like the design overall, but I'm having major issues with one thing- the blade sharpness. First off, the blade was pretty much the worst factory edge I've ever gotten, even out of knives like MTech. The blade grind was horribly uneven and had an obtuse angle.
So I thought, no big deal, I'll just reprofile it and be good to go. But after doing that, the edge still sucked. It would barely cut computer paper, but suprisingly, it went right through newspaper. It won't shave arm hair, either. I have never had a problem getting an edge on 8cr13mov or steels like it before. Do any of you have the same problem? Should I lower the angle further? Are the bevels not touching? This seems to be a fault of the blade grind, which doesn't seem to get very thin near the edge. Any advice would be appreciated.
