have you ever felt that 2 knives complement each other in a perfect manner and just feel the need to carry both? i edc both a spyderco military and a benchmade 520 and i wouldn't remove either of them from my current edc setup, because they are so different that you could choose each time the right tool for the job:
- robust tip vs. needle-like tip
- axis vs. liner
- thumbstud vs. spyderhole
- no choil vs. choil
- aluminum vs. G10
- tip down vs. tip up
- thumb ramp on the handle vs. -//- on the blade
- etc, etc

i would be interested in finding out more about the combinations that you use and the reasons that have made you choose them in the first place....

I usually carry two knives and it's always fun to try to find two that compliment each other perfectly. Size, blade type, edge type, are some of the area's that I compare. In my opinion Small Sebenza and ZDP Calypso are one of my perfect combo's.
-Hollow grind vs Flat grind
-hard use vs delicate use

I have been carrying a Spyderco Military and a Ka-Bar Mule.
The Millie is a much better slicer and the Mule works well for hard-use. Also with the price of the Mule I do not mind loaning it.

Lately, I either have My Benchmade 710 in D2 or my Spyderco para-Military in the right front pocket, and a kershaw Leek in the left rear. It's a comfy setup and if one hand is busy, you never have to reach around your body to get at a blade when you have one on each side:D

I carry a pair of Kershaw Cyclones...One full-sized and one "Mini", both plain-edge...This is a perfect pair, as they are exactly the same, only different in size, so when I have cutting to do when around "sheeple", I use the "Mini".

I might have to consider that Jmac.

I normally carry one primary knife in my rf pocket and a Leatherman Wave in the bag. But I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about. I think a PE and an SE would go good together.

I have been carrying my Kevin Wilkins Avalon 3 & Charles May Fireant.

I carry a benchmade Rukus and SAK super tinker, or a benchmade 42 balisong and a swisschamp XLT. Having both a good sized blade for moderate cutting tasks and my little red toolboxes seems to get me through any situation.

Guess I go for the "opposites attract" thing as I always carry a large knife, one of the following, in my right front pocket; BM Rukus, ZT0200, Strider AR, Blade-Tech Rijbak. I then follow that up with a slipjoint in my left front pocket; Case Barlow, Case Gunstock, Case Razor. You see, the big attracts the little, and the little attracts the big!

I always match up knives- even when I am only going to carry 1 "hmmm... this would go well with this knife if I wanted to carry another one"
Actually one that really surprised me was the combination of the Queen Canoe and Spyderco CentofanteIV below

I find I use the Centofante for most tasks as it is the better pure slicer. The canoe is used for leverage cuts, where a more robust action is needed and for some detail work with the smaller blade. The combination of the straight, pointy wharncliffe and bellied spear/drop point blades compliment each other well, why carry multiple blades that do the same job?
