Then they go into a numbered slot in a box where they get their lanyard thong (thats what the wife is doing in the second pic down) and I start work on their sheath. Each ships with a custom made and fitted sheath (fitted to that specific knife). The number of the slot of the knife in the box corresponds to a number inside the sheath. Thats how I keep track of which sheath goes to which knife.

I'm just starting to research leather working for sheath making, and the shear amount of tooled leather in these pictures is making my brain melt down lol.
 
This doesn't work for large numbers or large knives, but my fixed-blade EDC rotation is in a silverware drawer insert that lives on a dresser (folders are stored slightly differently):
