Completed my first sheath (Bark River Featherweight)

Looks pretty darn god to me! Nice job. The color on your rubbing stick there is that dye transfer?
Yes, but not from this one. On some of my earlier pieces, when I wet it to slick it, it transfers the dye easily. I use the Fiebings Oxblood Leather dye. I don't like how it transfers. I had to treat the leather afterwards with Neetsfeet oil and then Eco-Flo Super Sheen. I really hope it doesn't happen every time it gets wet.

One of the two main reasons I won't dye leather. Ya can get dye transfer years later. Sealing the dyed item only mitigates it so much. There are drum dyed veg tan leathers directly from the tannery (Wicket and Craig, Herman Oak), that really help with this, Plus the dye is all the way through the leather not just on the surface. There are a couple places that sell this leather by the foot so ya don't have to buy a whole side.

Very nice work right there. I applaud the 5 attempts before this one. It's hard to do, but starting over is the best way to get it right sometimes:thumbsup:

Thank you everyone for the compliments. I am proud. I whittled down a double shoulder veg-tan to a knife sheath :)

I like how you fixed the clip to your sheath. Have you seen the clip used this way or is it your idea? Some of my future projects will will have a ulticlip attached just like yours. Is your sheath setup for inside waist or inside the belt carry?

I have seen a few pictures. This is more for pocket carry or inside waist carry. Mind you the Barkriver is only about 3.25 inch blade.
