Now I know, imo, which among the three, is the best.

One thing for sure, this one stands alone:

I really think the pimp job on that Strider wasn't very tastefully done. The blade looks like it's had its cerakote stripped off manually with sandpaper, giving it that uneven appearance of a more amateur blade polish job. The lock side looks incredibly chaotic with the combination of black coated hardware, shiny satin hardware, and an anodization pattern that doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason.

Tell us what you really think. 😩

I like the polished torch job and even more I like that he has the nads to do what he likes to the knife he owns. 👍🏻👊🏻

They're his knives. OP can melt them down to slag and take pictures of them to instagram if he wants.

The Rockstead though. I love the gloriously pointless levels of finish. That's what art is, right?

Very nice, if you torch that Hinderer the fanboys will behead you.

You are all right!

I'm firmly in the "do wtf you want with *your* knives" camp.

May I ask, how did you anodize only the flats on the Sebbie? The bevels leading to the flats look very high precision.

How durable will the finishes be?

Actually I ano'ed the original finish bevels as well. I left original finish on bevel, since it has high wear potential, my intention was for the mirror finish flat to provide the abrupt and distinct clean optical separation of contrast.

I followed a similar formula involving contrast on my SnG as well. Since PD-1 is not stainless, after Cerakote removal, I finished the spine up to 400, mirror'ed secondary for contrast then follow with forced patina to preserve base steel and milled back spacer to break up the rather plain look:

In regards to durability, I am very discipline as to segregate my knives when I do carry them and have no problems with the flamed finish. However, electro ano would not fare as well. Evident on ano'ed thumb stud wear just from repeated thumb deployments.

I could not make the same testament if it was electro ano'ed. This, I made for my C6 Corvette, it is pristine today as it was first installed several years ago:

Haters gonna hate. I think you did a good job.

Thank you!

I am passionate with my hobbies and glad to share with like minds.

Just finished my complete set of stubby pivot spanner for both SnG and RHK use:

Tools in hand. XM-18's are great platform and I am happy to play with them next!

I am not a fan of Strider usually, but I have to say this looks amazing. Especially the way the light plays off the blade. The spanners are the most interesting. I can even envision a nice box set with magnetic tips assigned for each manufacturer, with one side for pivot and other for the remaining fittings

Seeing all of that extra flame coloring, you have a flame coloring addiction. We need to get you help before you start buying metal phone cases to flame treat, and all of your silverware is flame colored. This is a very serious addiction, and cannot be taken lightly.

Strider are unique for sure, which, of course, one is more than enough for me as well. Normally, I mod knife because there is room for improvements, in my mind's eyes that is. Rockstead stands alone, it will stay unmolested, imo, perfect the way it was designed/crafted.

I thought me being in the middle of the Pacific is remote, then I noticed your location - like mind addicts are everywhere, right? Glad we crossed path! I just saw a World Trekker show couple of days ago, man, the hand carved in ground, stone temple and other sights are unbelievable. I need to make a trip for sight as well as sample some super hot food - I am addicted to the super hot Trinidad Moruga Scorpion.

I do have other spanner and what not combinations for other convenience. I am long winded when comes to machining/toolmaking - I will leave it at that.

Do you know of a flame coloring addict anonymous clinic within five miles of Honolulu? Please help! :o

Oh c'mon... You know you want to wave the Rockstead. Maybe sandblast the aluminum and anodize it bright purple. Chrome plating? :D

Now THAT would be ballsy.

Make a trip. I will send you home with some traditional blades from here.

I do appreciate old world craftsmen of India, done everything by hands. Traditional blades with its unique shapes certainly are tempting! Maybe one day!! Did I mentioned I love HOT Indian Curry? Yum..

Thank you!

I'd do it; but I'm crazy like that... ;):D Even just the bare sandblasted aluminum with that polish would be sweet.:thumbup::cool:
