Composite blade for EDC?

I don't own any knives with composite blades and I was thinking about picking one up for EDC. I'd be going with one with a CPM-D2 cutting edge since they can be had at a good price. Do any of you have one that you EDC? If so, how does it perform? Which is your favorite model or which would you recommend? I'd like to see a composite Skyline but I won't wait that long. Looking forward to your responses.

I'm kinda confused by your post. A composite blade with D2 along the cutting edge is going to perform just as good as a knife with an all D2 blade.

D2 isn't a stainless steel, so you'll have to make sure and keep it oiled and clean or you'll have problems with rust spots. You may also look at forcing a patina on the blade.

I'm familiar with D2, just not Kershaw's heat treat. I guess I should've included that in the OP.

I really love the JYD composite blade but it is a much larger and totally different style knife than the Leek. It may be too large for your environment or tastes. I haven't carried a JYD for any period of time though and wouldn't carry one with a stock clip. I love the JYD except for those clips.

I currently carry an 0560 but also carry a frankenleek with a composite blade in an OD handle. In polite company and for most daily tasks I use that Leek or a Skyline.

No, I welcome any and all input and the JYD is one I was looking at but it definately needs a STR lowrider clip. The ZDP composite Shallot is catching my eye as well, not readily available though. Thank you!

Yes sir. I'm hoping someone that has one will chime in here. I like the looks of it.

Thanks for the link, that's a great thread! I have some of that solution in my garage, it's left over from etching the logos on a couple of knives before I stripped the coating. Worked great!

Love my composite Leek and my Tyrade. Both perform quite well in terms of edge retention. One of the reasons I like them is that, while CPM-D2 will take a razor edge, you can put an aggressive working edge on it even from dull with very little work.
