Does the darker color line indicate the steel demarcation, or is that just for looks? Also, any word on the actual workability of the knife?I kinda want one but no performance reviews yet...

You have 2 different colored steels. The darker is D2 the lighter is either 154CM or 13C26 depending on the knife. There is a line of copper running between the 2 steels. As for performance, I dunno. I don't have a composite Leek yet and my Tyrade is buried way deep in the EDC rotation. Too many knives too little time.

I have the composite leek, the dark color is the CPM-D2 the lighter color is the Sanvik 13C26. I have been using it to to cut a lot and its holding its edge nicely so far. I usually do a lot of light cutting though, paper, tape, occasionally boxes.

I had an opportunity to use my Tyrade this morning to cut cardboard and it did a great job with it. This was medium thickness cardboard and I mainly used the first half of the blade edge to do the cutting. It still had a shaving edge upon completion of the cutting. As far as how that ranks with regular steels, I can't really answer as I believe my ZT0500 with 154CM blade steel, would have it with the same ease and still retain the razor edge. It will take some serious long term use to find out exactly how well the composite blades will do, I doubt that I will be the one to do this due to my normal cutting chores which will not come close to challenging any of the steels on my edc's.

Um....yeah, what they all said. I just got home from work and didn't have the luxury of hanging out by the computer all day like the rest of youz guyz!!:D
