My dad "mycough" is buying me one of these 2 for christmas, I have had some cheap knives in the past but nothing like this, and I am stuck on which one to pick. Dad is worried that the JYD II is too big, but I like how rugged the D2 is. And it looks pretty cool. But I like the assisted opening on the Blur. Any advice or thoughts would helpful. Thanks, Sam.

I prefer the JYDII, but that's just me. I just can't get over the fact that the Blur doesn't have a flipper.

The JYD isn't too big at all. In fact, I always thought they were big until I held one.
Now I own a composite JYDII, and I have to say, I really do love everything about it.

It is one of the most comfortable folders to use in the saber grip that I've ever held.
It's thin. (at least thinner than I expected)
I'm loving the blade shape.
It has great lock up.
The clip is STIFF, and I like that. (a lot of people don't though)
And it flips like an AO with minimal effort.

I don't have much experience with Blurs, and even less with S60V, but I can say that no matter what, you'll be more than happy.

The one thing I do give the Blur over the JYD is that you can't reverse the clip to tip up carry on the JYD. Other than that, it is flawless in my eyes.

Both are really must have knives. Very high performing steels. Probably more desire for the blur in 10 years if kept LNIB, but as a user they are both excellent. Kershaws excellent SG2, or the last of the S60. What a conundrum.

Get both! Joe

Um...both? (It's the standard Kershaw forums answer, after all.) One for the holidays and one for your birthday, perhaps.

:D

I was between these two as a Christmas present for my son and chose the JYDII composite in the end. I just love those thick liners and full G-10 handles. The composite blade is none to shabby also!!:thumbup: The only thing about the JYD is that it may require a STR clip for pocket carry use.

I find the knife is much more useful after you put a choil in the flipper. It is harder to flip, but it more than makes up for that with better blade control.

Composite JYDII for sure IMO.

Opens just as fast as any AO, without the potential legal problems.

I've also never been a fan of the thumb-stud + AO combination of the Blur. Nothing against AO knives, I have a couple, but I find it very awkward to open them with the thumbstud instead of a flipper.

Blur. JYD can only be carried tip-down.

S60V is the last of them, and the OD is a great color.

BUT, get both if you can... ;)
