Hi all,
I recently was gifted a composite leek. I have always been impressed with the pattern. However, as some of you may know, I am NOT a fan of the speedsafe. It's a great idea, but I have never really cottoned to it. I guess I like a knife I can control in opening, etc and speedsafe just doesn't give me that control.
THAT SAID, I have always appreciated Kershaw's quality, design etc. This composite leek is no exception.
I am not going to offer a review, I simply want to say that NOW I HAVE THE PERFECT one-handed knife. "Oh?" you say," I thought you didn't like the speedsafe?" I DON'T. I simply removed it. Now I have a great feeling knife, with great steel combo, and all the control I want.
Specifically, here are the features I love and that are necessary for a good one-handed knife FOR ME:
1. framelock
2. good blade steel
3. smooth opening via thumbstud
4. comfortable handle
5. thin enough tip to do detail work
6. TIP DOWN capability
7. solid lock up
I am sure it's commonplace to do so, but it was a revelation to me. I almost decided to give this one away until it dawned on me to take out the torsion bar.
Now it's perfect!
Thanks for listening,
Brett
