I tried a search without success so, if this thread is a duplicate, please let me know!

I need safety shoes with a "steel toe". I need to wear these where the ambient ground temperature can run 150 degrees Fahrenheit but is mostly in 100-120 range and it can also be slippery and wet. I have had a pair of Timberland Pro 8" boots in the past but, I need something that can "breathe" some and aren't that heavy.

One pair I have been considering is the Keen Lexington's but, there aren't many reviews. What other brands and models (please be specific) should I be considering? What recommendations do the RKI's around here have?

TIA,
Sid

Red Wing has a composite toe work boot that my son had when he was in trade school. They were great boots but I don't know about heat ratings.

I'm currently wearing Magnum Composite toe boots for work and they seem to be holding up rather well. Only had them for about 5 or 6 months though. They are pretty light compared to actual steel toe boots. As far as heat ratings, I have no idea.

I went through this search last summer and ended up with a pair of Keen Detroits, I needed them for some warehuse work in Vegas and they worked out just fine.

I've worn Justin work boots every day for the past 15 years. They fit me just fine, though recently they're made in China and that bothers me. RedWings are the only USA-made boots I can find around here but they don't fit me like the Justins. Alot of the other guys at work swear by their Ariats, but I haven't tried them.

Oh - for "breathing" don't get waterproof boots. Sounds easy enough but I made that mistake once and really regretted it.

Google steel toed shoes.com and look at the belleville side zip composite toe boot. Excellent breathability, heat rated, and made in the usa. Side zip is great because you can take them off and let your dogs breathe on lunch break. Just not in the truck if you want to keep your friends.

Matterhorn 1999, Cordoura Nylon upper, Vibram sole, Welt Construction (rebuildable), Goretex, nice big loop to pull on, composite toe, composite shank, made in the USA. Should run you about $200.
