Compound for 154CM

Between sharpening sessions, for a quick touchup I load my strop with autosol.Good enough for my needs.

Lots of options for that steel. Sort of middle-of-the-road wear resistance. Any silicon carbide (black) or aluminum oxide (might be white, dark/light grey, pink, blue or other colors) should work well, and lots of grit sizes are available in each. Polishing pastes like Flitz/Simichrome are aluminum oxide, and maybe the Autosol mentioned above is also. I'm sure diamond would also work, but may not be necessary. Green compound can often work as a finishing step, or just before bare-leather stropping.

I agree with David. Just about every compound I have tried has worked on 154CM. Go to Lowe's and pick up a couple of tubes of buffer wheel compound. Black is coarsest up to, IIRC, green being the finest compound Lowe's carries. The run around $3 a tube.

Sound advice. I use 1,2,4,5. Best 12 bucks I ever spent on my habit.
