I just ordered a strop and am wondering which compound is recommended for stropping the edge on D2 blades. Specifically I have Queen pocketknives in D2. A source for the right compound would also be appreciated.

This info is probably out here already but I was unable to find anything with the search function.

Thanks

Diamond compounds are by far the best for a stropping compound. Chromium oxide will work with D2 but it may take a while, get diamond compound and you will never want or need anything else. It is going to cost more but the advantages in speed alone make it worth the price.

The best http://www.japaneseknifesharpeningstore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=HADiaSp3 They had 1 micron spray but it looks like they may not carry it any more. If you call them you might get lucky.

And a runner up http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/522944/482854.htm

I find my Dozier doesn't respond well to chromium oxide stropping -- seems to lose its bite, so I finish off on a DMT ultra fine (green) and leave well enough alone.
