compound in coral/finishing coral

Okay, somebody pushed the idiot button on my back and I buffed this coral handle just to see what it would look like...

Well, (yay for the dummy) it looks like coral with buffing compound stuck in the pores. I realize I should have sealed it with super-glue or something before I even got too high in grit on paper.

I would like some advice on how to get the compound out (just white rouge), and the best way to finish this stuff. It's apple coral, and this is the first time I've used coral.

Buffing compound will wash off with laquer thinners. Just be careful not to dirty up something else with the residue(like wood) it won't come out of woood grain.

Nick, I cleaned the coral I used with warm soapy water and a soft tooth brush. I rinsed it well with clear water, dried with a paper towel, and put in the oven on the lowest setting with the door open to dry. I sealed it with multiple coats of super-glue.
