Gunting: Locking bar on the right scale.

L'il Temp: Locking bar on the left scale.

Salsa: Locking bar on the left scale

I got the L'i'l Temp first so I'm used to the locking bar on the left side. Although, I really have no problems with the Gunting's locking bar on the right scale. I guess this makes the Compression lock ambidextrous?

I assume the Gunting's locking bar on the right scale was an earlier design and all subsequent models w/the compression lock will have the locking bar on the left side? If so, just out of curiousity, why was this change made?

Nope, Bram Frank specially designed this feature to prevent accidental opening in certain grip types.

I also don't like releasing my grip on a tool..The Compression release on a Gunting allows me to not only escalate in force but to de-escalate while in the flow of usage..
It allows me to use a natural grip, a childs fist motion, to release the lock..and the motion needed is a motion perpendicular to the line of usage..
In other words it's not coming open-released under pressure, duress or within the flow of usage no matter your grip etc..

be safe

Bram
