Compression lock-one hand closing.

Other than a lockback, this is the most difficult lock in terms of closing the blade with one hand only. I've have, although, become proficient in closing it one-handed. How about everyone else?

I close it the same as any other lock. Maybe I'm fortunate to have long fingers, I've never had difficulty one-handing any knife.

No problems here either. Push lock open, shake blade down, close knife. Compression lock rules!

Never had a problem.

Another reason I like compression locks (as well as the stregnth), is their ability to easily close one handed with either hand. Something that is not easy with the liner locks.

It has good "safety factor" because you can close it without your fingers in the way of the blade. It does take a little use to get familiar with it, though.
Also I think SLIP JOINT is the hardest blade to close actually, their spring tension can be very high! Something locking folders don't need to worry about-

I only have this problem with my Gunting. All the other compresions are pretty easy.

The liner is set up up on the otherside with the Gunting so it feels like its for a left hander (though I know it's not).

BOK:
we'll work on it when I get to Vancouver...OK???
its easier than you think..matter of fact its absurdly simple..like Wing Chun or Filipino Arts..ROFL...

Hahaha yes........just like Wing Chun........Simple.......;)

who's wing chun? or was that a stupid question... watch that turn out to be some relative of mine and i wouldn't have even known that...

at first i found the compression lock difficult, having relatively small hands, but then i changed the way i held it so that i would be holding the lock with my thumb while balancing it on my middle and index finger and pushing the handle against my index for leverage. with the back locks i would have my index finger there to stop the blade, but with this guy, i'm using the middle finger which is better cuz it's longer... way too much detail, oh well! thought i'd share:D

Yes aXed...Wing Chun IS your first cousin on your Martial Arts side of the family...
Wing Chun is a deceptively simple, effective martial art that has only three basic forms...and a limited library of movements..
and it looks very very simple to learn...
and in some ways it is..
In others its simplicity is so complex it takes a while to master the sublteties of the art....
and the longer one does it the more natural they become..
Its one of the original gross motor skill arts...
OK???
you'll see @ the seminar...

I just picked a Salsa up this morning in titanium frame and have had no problems in using the compression lock. I place my thumb on the left side of the blade right at the hole and take my index(pointing) finger and push the lock aside while using my thumb to rotate it closed. I really like this lock.

Hey Bram,
Yeah I heard from Steve that its a lot of incorporating with your style. If your gonna do some stuff with Wing Chun, that would awesome. I know some basics or Wing Chun and hopefully, I can expand with the Gunting. Any other styles of Kung fu we'll be using???
