Hey guys,

Just got my first PM2, love the knife... but one thing I've noticed is just how sharp the compression lock tab is, be kind of nice if it was a tad thicker maybe a chamfered edge with some jimping? does anyone agree or am I just a little bitch and my finger will get used to it? i guess I'm used to frame locks where one straight bit of steel with a sharp edge wouldn't cut it

though i could see how they may have done it this way so there is no chance whatsoever of an accidental disengagement?

thoughts? thanks fellas

hummm, my satin camo PM2's lock tab is not ''sharp'', not like some spydie holes can be sometimes. But it can sometimes feel like it pinches the skin when flicked opened, but it's really not a bid deal. I doubt you could inadvertanly disagage the lock, rest assured, it is one of THE top strongest lock mecanism as of today.

my pm2 lock tab is not sharp at all. why would jimpings be needed on the tab? plus, wouldn't jimpings make the tab more uncomfortable?

I have 5 Para 2s and not one of the tabs is sharp. I agree about jimping on it.....not needed or wanted.
Maybe a pic??
Joe

Silly question.....are you pushing the tab down or over to the side?

Photo of lock tab is needed, if it is sharp,,, may be a china fake.

hey guys, thanks for the feedback!

first of all i'll just quick get out of the way its definitely not fake, purchased from cuttleryshoppe just this week, its a blue/purple s110v

here's a pic of what i am talking about, in the photo on the left i put a red line on the edge that i'm referring to

on the right i just drew in what i meant by making it a bit bigger or chamferred with the jimping, i know a couple of you guys mentioned the jimping being unnecessary but i was thinking it would help with a bit more purchase

but yeah based on what you guys have said maybe i'm the only one that finds that edge uncomfortable to disengage the lock with, might just need to toughen up!

thanks all

The more you use it, the less of an issue it will become. One day you'll look back and say, "who was that whiny little bitch ;-). Excellent pics btw.

I actually think it's an excellent idea. Reminds me of the ti lites lock tab. If they make a milli with a compression lock I'd like it to have that feature.

Nice photos and great idea for increasing area for finger tab.

You could disassemble the knife and round over the edge that is irritating your finger.
Note: Use heat to loosen the locktite on the screws, I like a solder tip or wood burning tip applied to the screw head.

yeah i might try and machine one up and screw it on... see if it works as i was hoping lol

Also.....when unlocking, try coming in from the side instead of pushing the top of the tab down. The only way that edge will contact your finger is if you are pushing the top of the tab.
Come in from the right side and push the tab to the left. This way your finger won't contact that edge.

The first few weeks I had a sore finger . I opened and closed it more than I could count every day because I initially kept trying to push on a frame/liner lock that wasnt there. I had to retrain my default closing method

Sometimes when opening my Para2 that is the oldest I get pinched because the lockup is a little late. I don't have this problem with any of my other Para2s or my Yojimbo2. I would not want to see the lock changed from it's current configuration but wouldn't mind a tad more clearance between the tab and the G10 so it doesn't pinch me.

Not according to the tests down by bladehq and demko. Properly built liner lock holds more weight. It is a great lock reagrdless, but not one of the strongest today. That honor goes to the triad, scorpion, good old fashioned back lock, axis, and sals powerlock. Possibly the hawks sls lock, but i havent seen it tested yet. The compressiom is great, but not all that strong.
