Guys,

I need it for my Photoshop work. When I am clicking and tracing around an object fast, it thinks I am double-clicking, and finishes early. Nope. Start all over... :(

I have a Logitech mouse with infrared tracking. Works great. No dust snags in two years. In the driver/install package Logitech provides, there is no provision for slowing down the acceptance rate for a double-click. I just downloaded the latest version.

I also downloaded the latest version of Microsoft's 'Tweak UI' control panel interface that has a numerical control for this feature. It adjusts from 1-32, and I have tried it on both ends. No change whatsoever.

So both apps that have mouse controls in my Control Panel do nothing. I am using Windows 2000 Pro.

Any tips where to turn would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Coop

Give me the exact model number of the mouse you are using and I'll see what I can find out. :)

I'm guessing you have the MX1000 Laser Optical Mouse as it is the only laser mouse made by Logictech. If you have MouseWare installed try removing the software by going to the Windows control panel and launching the "Add/Remove" icon. From the list of installed programs find MouseWare and click the "Change/Remove" button. Follow the on-screen instructions. Install SetPoint and restart the system. This should resolve the issue.

The link will take you to a download of SetPoint 2.14 for Win2000.

Ken,

Thanks for this. I'm on it right now.

Logitech M-BD58

I downloaded their 'advanced utility' add-on, and even that didn't have a selection for this. So no go. I'l try your solution and report back in....

If it's the same as mine, double click on the mouse icon in your system tray. This will open a Mouse properties window. Then go to the Buttons tab and click on the Options button. This will open a window for selecting the double-click speed.

You can also start Regedit, and go to: HKey_Current_User\Control Panel\Mouse\DoubleClickspeed and alter the speed from there.

Just a thought, but ... when I get a new mouse sometimes I find the old mouse driver still works with the new mouse, though sometimes it doesn't. Over the years I've accumulated a number of different mouse drivers. Sometimes I like the features on one of my old ones better than whatever comes with the new mouse.... Do you have any other mouse drivers lying around? You can download them from the net, too. Anything for a mouse that has the same number of buttons and wheels is likely to work, though it also might not.

If you try two or three you're likely to find a driver that works with your mouse and lets you adjust the double-click speed.

OK, the plot thickens...

I did uninstall my 'MouseWare ver 9.79.1' program, and rebooted. Now I get the generic Windows mouse control pages, and I am able to adjust the speed.

Ken, the link you gave me was for another model completely. I used the word infrared, when I *meant* 'optical'. (It's a red light underneath. But not infrared. Duhhh!)

But in doing so I lost the functionality of the scroll wheel button press. Before I could program it as the 'back' button on my browser. Very convenient. Now I can't..

There is probably a registry number in the system that assigns all of this. At least I can have one or the other. Or I can buy another mouse....

Cougar--that sounds good. This will take a while to find out that, though.

Thank you all for for trying!

Coop, there is also a newer set of drivers out for Mousewares ver. 9.80
You may want to try those.

"Do as I say...." :grumpy:

OK, first I did as Cougar said, and found a site with OLD Logitech drivers. Then I found a version that was from 2000. I uninstalled, downloaded and reinstalled that one (After a lengthy registration process). So far so good.

I reboot, it goes through the setup motions, and 'VOILA!'--there it is under the NEW 'options' window in the Buttons tab. Yup, it DOES affect my double-click speed. This is looking good.

But......

Now I lost the function of the scroll wheel. It does nothing. NFG.

So, I "do as I was told' and reinstall the new 9.79.1 driver again, reboot, and setup, etc.....

Good. I have my scroll working again, but I am at square one. There IS no option window to change double-click speed in the newer version. Gone.

AAAARRRHHGG.

Buzz, I am poking at you cuz, I'm pissed at the world right now. Too much fuss about a simple thing tonight. :)

Lemme see if I can *really* screw myself by messing with the registry....

If you don't here from me in a couple of days, well, you know what I'm doing. FIXING my bungle...! :p :p :p :D

Twice I ran regedit, found the value 225 (which is supposedly milliseconds between clicks) went to 'Modify' and changed the value first to 450, then to 150. Reboot and come back. Twice.

Each time no change, and when I look at the regedit again, the value defaulted back to 225. No wonder it didn't change.

Ugghh. This is like a bad dream....

Stumpy, where is that driver? Logitech site only has the other one for my model and OS.

So you do know, I am running MouseWare 9.79.1 and I have that option in the software tabs.

In 9.79.1, you go to "buttons" tab. You should see a little white box with all your buttons in numerical order. click the one you want to change (it references the picture) and click "Modify", which opens another window, in which you can change that speed.

Okay. I just upgraded to 9.79.1, and this is where I can change my double-click speed.

Just select the 1st mouse button, and click Modify.

hmmm.... Blackwatch beat me to it.

Update: I think I'm just stooopid. I uploaded the mid level driver and there it is.

I am going to reinstall the latest ONE MORE TIME to verify if I am a big dumbo for missing it.

My screenshot was driver version 9.79.1 on Windows 2000, and you now want the Modify button.

Buzz, I edited after you posted. Read my note.

Be like me. Have a couple more beers. Your self-confidence will quickly be restored. It's working for me tonight.

I run XP, they really shouldn't have that much difference (but it's an M$ product, so who knows?)

Glad to see it is almost resolved for ya!

I'm back.... :footinmou

I need to step away and just go to bed. I have wasted mine and your time with my silly problemo. There it was all along. Buried under the 'modify' tab.

Newest version 9.79.1. Again. What I had to begin with....

Buzz and others, I appreciate the time you spent posting on my behalf. I owe ya.

Walking humbly away.... but relieved. :)
