I am not a computer guru, but when I answered an email from GavinD-S Africa-his post is below, my computer was hit with a W95Levi virus. It shut me down for a while. I used my Gateway Go Back feature and was able to get back up. I don't know whether my computer is fixed or not. Beware. Gavin, if your email was not the culprit, I'm sorry but I deleted your last message.

In addition to the above thread, I have had problems with Andre De Villiers-S Africa- email also. I am getting a knife from him. I get a warning message on his email but it never shut my computer down. Another forumite advised me that he deleted Andre's email because a virus was attached. This is just a warning. I know one thing, the above virus wiped out my MSN software completely.

Tex, did the email have an attachment that you downloaded or a picture inserted in the body of the email???

Mike, the email had a Word file (catalog) attached. Nothing happened the first time I replied, but the second time, the computer lit up with this virus. I'm not sure it was his email that did this, but I'm suspicious of it.

MIke, I did open up the Word file in between the two reply emails. I need a computer guru for this. The virus could not be repaired.

I am just recovering from a virus that I got from But Reitveld in Holland, very nasty and had to reformat my hard drive! I wrote and told him and with his reply that he had it taken care of contained the virus, again! It comes as an exe file and is named jimihendrixmpeg or something

The emails I got from Andre said "ActiveX controls not safe"...I just went, yeah, whatever, and closed the warning message box without any problems.

An email I got from Andre also had a virus code fragment at the bottom. Lucky I don't actually open mail on my local machine...it's kept on the server safe and sound.

I emailed Andre about it, and he said his computer came up clean after a virus scan. Better safe than sorry.

Sorry about the virus but for the love of me I can't see how the virus attached itself.
We work in a very secure environment with anti virus programs running the whole time.
I've also rechecked my machine and it has come up virus free. On top of that I,ve sent out my catalogue to a lot of people with no complaints of any virus. If you want I can send it to you again.

Gavin, the virus could have been just sitting here and hit at the time I was emailing you. I'm glad your machine checked out ok.

Ferret, that's the same message that pops up on my computer on Andre's email. Like you, I go ahead and open them up and have had no problems.

I also received multiple E mail's from Andre that had a virus attached. My Norton antivirus flashed a warning about this. It would not even let me open the e mail to read it, let alone download anything. This happens every time I get e mail from Andre. It says the KAK Worm virus is attached. I have had that virus in my PC and it is nasty! I had to have my entire hard drive erased and windows reloaded. Be Careful.

I need to add that since I installed the Norton Anti-virus that I have not had any problems.

Rob,
You probably don't want to be advertising the fact that you caught a "But" virus.
