If I recall correctly, Texas still has that old 5 1/2 inch law that applies to knives carried by anyone, regardless of whether or not you have a permit.I am 99% sure that in Texas it doesn't apply to knives.
Not even remotely a strange question. In fact, a very intelligent one. As markksr noted, it varies from state to state. Unfortunately, there's no way to know for sure short of actually reading the enabling statute or talking to someone who has read it. In Colorado, knives are not included in the CCw law.

most carry permits are pretty specific, as they should be.
i imagine if you are able to obtain a firearm permit, you should be easily able to obtain a knife permit or add the enhancement to your existing one.
Here in Washington state the CWP doesn't allow for knives, which makes NO sense. I can carry a fully-loaded 16 shot Glock 10mm concealed, but not a fixed blade..
The State I live in gives great latitude for carry. Any type/caliber of hand gun as many as you want and with few exception any type and size of knife baton etc that you want to carry that's because they issue concealed "Weapons" permits rather than a hand gun carry permit.
I disagree that permits should be spacific and you should just add on endorsements. Keep them simple and all inclusive.
Possibly that is "possibly" expand the training requirements to touch bases on "optional" weapons.
Texas allows for carry of both folders and fixed blades 5 1/2 inches or less. They can be carried openly, or hidden. I do some of both.
Also, the TV news a few weeks ago reported a new law that allows concealed carry of previously illegal "weapons" in automobiles. Including, but not lmited to guns, swords, clubs, machetes, etc. Does anyone have any more info on this?
It's different for every state, as mentioned. In my state knives are not included with CCW permits.Obviously a conceal carry license applies to firearms, but does it also apply to knives?
The most logical reason for that is there are no standardized training or proficiency tests for using knives. Maybe that's something Knife Rights or ATKI could provide in the future, the same way that the NRA does for firearms training certifications? Here in Washington state the CWP doesn't allow for knives, which makes NO sense.
Thanks for the responses. I just got my conceal carry permit and, being a knife nut, I was curious if it also applied to knives. It would make sense to me, but if there's anything I've learned re: knife laws..........nothing makes sense.:barf::
