What is the classification as a "pocket knife"?

Does a pocket clip of a knife being displayed still classify you carrying the knife as being concealed?

That really depends on where you live. Pocket clips can really be a case by case officer discretion. And even bury clips could still be considered showing, if they wanted it to. If you need to only carry concealed, then deep clips or full pocket carry is your option, if you need to carry open, then tall clips might not be enough. The best way is to keep out of trouble. There are no real easy answers.

The are two parts to the OP, I think. The first is definition of pocket knife, or perhaps what is not a weapon, etc. The second, if it matters, is the criteria that describes concealment. That said, I agree it depends on state and maybe local laws and precedent. But know the law and the terms and criteria where you live, work, and play.

1. What state are you in?

2. What type of knife do have have/want/want to carry in said state?

Answer these and we can go from there...

There are many city and county laws, too, along with case law and local officer discretion variability. Lots of luck in some areas of the country legally carrying a knife...
