Concealed Carry... For a kukri?

Yep, I'm that crazy. Or at least, I hope to be.

I bought my first kukri three weeks ago. Soon as it arrived, I had to have another. Then I discovered BF, and learned that I probably should have been buying them from HI. Now I know that I'll have to buy at least one more from them, so I can have a fair comparison of the various kukri houses.

After playing around with my first one a bit (by playing, I mean very carefully holding and chopping at small branches. Yes, I did read the various safety instructions on kukris :p) I realized with great sorrow that I probably can't carry this beauty around with me very easily, unless I want to frighten the local people/police/military.

Now I'm trying to come up with a way to carry a 10 inch Service No. 1 Kukri without it being too visible.

Has anyone ever tried, or accomplished this feat? If so, how did you do it?

Would I be better off trying to find a smaller (6 inch, or so) kukri?

Depends on your state law. In CA for example I can't carry concealed any fixed blade (even a one inch long one) but I can carry concealed any sized folder I want. Fixed blades must be 100% exposed and sheathed.

I'm popping this one over to the cantina since it's technically not about HI blades. No big deal. Semantics really:p

I usually use a shoulder rig that allows me to carry up to a 17" khuk under my jacket or flannel shirt. I've also found that making an all leather high and tight sheath can hide the bulk of the knife under said shirt as well.

There are ways. I carry that way almost daily through the fall and winter months. My favorite EDC khuk is a 13" AK. The sheath I use holds the bolster well above my belt line. Only a couple of inches peek out the bottom of my shirt.

Feel like posting a picture of that? Google isn't too helpful for that sort of thing, since it isn't exactly common. I'm trying to figure out how I could comfortably do that...

You're already carrying seven knives at once. That's fine, but it seems questionable when a man/woman is asking how to conceal a Kukri or anything for that matter. With the information that has already been posted, it should be enough for someone with a general knowledge of carry. Yet, they're still asking for pics and members to commit more to their quest. A man/woman buys a tool/weapon and doesnt know how they're gonna carry it? I dont think anyone here should be instructing you on how to conceal a Kukri. I may be wrong. But I know there are many on BF still in High School, asking lots of "weapon" questions. Making their rounds thru the forums. Maybe you shoud ask your question over in Prac Tac. :)

Hey now, that was a one time thing :) I was just trying to see how silly I could get in terms of over-carrying. Five of those seven are back in my knife drawer, and one of them is just a cardsharp in my wallet. I don't actually walk around with 7 blades on me...

That's cool man

Cincinnati and Ohio State law (my home town) is very simular to Dirtbiker's, at least when I lived there. Alaska law is a lot more liberal do to people living and working more outdoors up here.

But if you are talking about concealing a fix bladed Kukri knife of any size in the city or town be prepared to do some time with you new boyfriend if your caught. I'm pretty sure that's illegal in the majority of US states.

First Rule of thumb - Don't carry concealed in the city.
Second Rule of thumb - If you do carry concealed don't get caught.
Third rule of thumb - If you do get caught don't buy the cheap Vaseline, get the good stuff.

I work in Security and city Police Officers have told me it is in your best interest to never carry a knife concealed. Even a pocket knife if legal should be clipped to your pocket so it's clip is visible.

I rock a kimono with a kukri in one sleeve and a small pit bull in the other.

Ok just kidding but my best guess would be under the arm/side carry. I think it would be tough to get around with one concealed without a lot of clothing but that it just a guess.

Indiana has no knife laws short of switch blades and gravity knives:) For as many back'ards things that do go on around here, at least the Hoosier state still has common sense regarding guns and knives:thumbup:

Here's the 13" AK riding high and tight.

It can be done pretty comfortably:) It just takes the right khuk, belt, and sheath to pull it off. Before I swapped it out for the 13" AK, I had an OWB holster packing a Taurus Judge Public Defender that was totally invisible.
