Concealed carry laws and Bowie blade folders

I know this sounds like a dumb question. But if a jurisdiction requires open carry for a list of weapons that includes bowie knives, do you think it includes a folder with a bowie shaped blade, like the Benchmade 720? My assumption is that when they are talking Bowie knives, they mean fixed blades with a bowie shape and not a simply referring to all knives fixed and folder that happen to have a Bowie shaped blade. Thoughts?

Typical law enforcement reading "bowie knife" is going to think of a big fixed blade. The bowie definition is so broad anyway, that'll do. They would never recognize a blade shape on a folder as part of the definition. That would be like the TSA confiscating the tiny plastic rifle of a GI Joe doll. :)

Bad news, I've read of fellas in the GI Joe newsgroup having the "guns" torn from the new boxes by those TSA rentacops! These aren't even the bigger guns that fire a spring-powered missle, but the little solid pistols and rifles, just b/c they looked like the real thing, but only a couple of inches long.

Back on topic, I'd agree that any Bowie-shaped folder wouldn't come under the same law as a "regular" Bowie knife, unless the blade length itself is also longer than the legal limit in your jurisdiction.
