I have made a few sheath knives to take to the Guild show. I've made hundreds of Kydex sheaths.

This Concealex is a different animal. Is it normal for it to roll up? I set my oven for 300 degrees and let it stay in there for about three minutes. What do you do?

Help,

Hello,

Yep it rolls up as it is getting to its forming stage,,,, not much you can do about it except heat it while holding it like i do in front of my Propane Catalityic heater. In an oven you might try putting a weight of some type on it to keep it flat. but other than that with COnsealex Rolling during heating is normal.

Hey Guys...

AT,, yupper it does roll up,, and if it's used properly,, the roll up can be a positive thing...

When mine rolls,, I know it's ready....

I like it to roll myself...

Putting weight on it,, isn't a good idea,,as it may leave marks on it.. I guess it all depends on what you use to weight it will..

I personally have no need for weighting as I expect and appreciate the roll...

I "Think" that Concealex also has a slight grain to it..
If you cut it one way it tends to roll more depending on which way you cut it....

I much prefer to use it over kydex,,Anyday...

Well I finished three sheaths yesterday. I learned two things. 1) You need to use a little extra material . 2) But most important, I had a piece of .040 Titanium and placed it on top of the Cocealex. It came out flat. Now that really helped.
