Hey guys, I'd like to start by saying I'm a huge fan of Condor Tool and Knife, and an even bigger fan of the company and services of 42Blades, who owns and operates Baryonyx Knife Co.

I had been in the market for a larger machete and emailed Benjamin asking his opinion on which would be best suited for my needs. I found him very responsive and helpful, and in the end decided on an 18" El Salvador. I needed a few extra touches on it, however, and Ben gladly agreed. I really think this is the most professionally personalized machete I've owned thus far, and was so happy with the product that I thought I'd share some pics. I will likely come back later and show this guy in use. Thanks for looking!

The sheath is excellent as always. They have pretty tight control on these and the leather is well made.

Here you can see the stitching and the invaluable belt loop swivel.

The sheath retention is excellent; in fact I've only ever had one loose sheath from Condor, and it was still on par with most other leather sheaths.

Here's a few pics of the lanyard hole, the width of the grip, and how it looks in hand. I have a medium to small hand, and it seems this grip accommodates all but the largest of hands.

As for the customization, I asked Ben to square the spine for firesteel striking, and to bring the edge all the way to the handle for controlled cuts. The thickness is a little more than a standard Tramontina or Imacasa, ensuring strength, but still easily narrow enough for very detailed work. The weight is seemingly only a little hefter, about the weight of a 20"-22" thinner machete.

Don't mind the fingers and feet, I'm on my day off and being lazy. :p Hope someone finds this informative in their next purchase from Baryonyx and/or Condor.

Another Condor fan here and is it wrong for me to say that
is a beautiful machete, especially with that mirror polished
edge? It is almost a shame to mark it up with chopping and
using it. I have the Golok, Kukri (which I would trust my life on)
Garuda, and the Bushlore; all have been great to me. Enjoy
your new Condor!

Thanks man. I own quite a few Condors but I was particularly impressed by Benjamin's above and beyond service on this one and wanted to share.

Agreed Baryonyx is a great supplier. I like the way he puts those Condor knives in great condition and ready to use. Love the edges after he gets done re-profiling.

That is THE Condor for the person wanting a fairly traditional (but higher quality in my opinion) machete. I like the touches that 42Blades did for you.

That looks great. I've got a friend coming to visit from the US next month, I should have some stuff from Baryonyx sent to him so he can bring it down here. I think the "special grade" service he offers is just genius.

Yeah, the special grade option and accepting special requests puts some serious swaying power in his corner lol. I'm hoping this will serve as a good starting point for someone who's never had a Condor or is in the market for a machete. Detailed pics really help when you can't go out and handle it in person.

I'll be taking it out soon and giving it a good run. I was lamenting my lack of a longer reaching machete when I was searching for a permanent campsite the other day, so I'm glad it showed up so quickly. Thanks for the responses.

I'm a big fan of condor's stuff, though on a lot of their blades I find the edge is too thick. I ordered some mora's from 42B a while back and was pleased with the order processing time so I'll probably order my future condor purchases from him.
