Does anyone have the Condor El Salvador machete? Are they any good? Can they be sharpened with a regular file? I have the Tramontina 14" Bolo machete, and I'm looking for something with an 18" blade. Thanks.

They come with a nice convex bevel so while you could use a file, you're probably better off using sandpaper on a springy backing.

I use both. I have about 4 or 5 of em. The edge can be touched up with a single cut file or re-done with a double cut depending on your pleasure. If you keep up with the edge, a simple kiss with a ceramic stick will keep the light saber ready to rock.

Which do you prefer? The carbon steel or stainless. I noticed on the Condor website that the carbon model has a thicker blade(3mm).

Their stainless models have performed flawlessly for me thus far. I have yet to get my hands on one of their carbon models, but I generally prefer as thin a blade as a design will tolerate. Less material to displace during the cut. :)
