I have heard good things about Condor machetes for the price. I am looking for a decently priced camp axe. Has anyone used Condor's axes? Are they any good?

$40 for an axe is pretty good. Is it worth it?

Also, does anyone know the difference between the "Classic Michigan", the "Swedish", and the "Danish"?

Thanks!

Joezilla had one at PWYP, I think it was the "Classic Michigan" model...

Worked pretty well, especially for an inexpensive axe. I'd recommend it.

The bottom half of the handle had some sort of incredibly painful abrasive coating on it. If that is still coming on them, be prepared to remove it.

Thanks for the comments........the more I shop for an axe, I see now that a S&N 2 1/4lb goes for only about $50. This seems to be a highly recommended axe.

I would assume most of you would recommend the S&N over the Condor right?

holy crap! $40.... I thought they were listed as more. OK, so the heads are awesome. The handles can use some work. One of them on a nicely chosen hickory handle and now you are talking. The axes will get better soon, but I'm not rushing them with those right now.

I have heard some stories of the stock handles baking pretty often, so that is a definite consideration. If you can buy the heads alone, that is probably what I would do. But, they are some kind of stainless I think ??? not really my cup of tea there, but they must use it for a reason.

The big ones are carbon. There are a few double bits that are stainless (changing soon!), but all the single bits are carbon.

Really?
Awesome!

Glad i waited then, a few times i almost bought one of the condor Double-bits but was put off by the stainless steel.
