Well, not long ago, I acquired a Condor Boomslang. Really likkin' this thing. Thanks 42Blades. But, when I got it, I had the intention of attaching it to my pack. I think that this knife is in the Goldie Locks zone for an all around knife size. Would be able to leave my GB ax in the truck and this Boomslang would be a bit more versatile out among the trees. SO, I started looking for a Molle option to carry it. Sure, I could just make a Kydex sheath for it, but, that has been done. And, the sheath that Condor supplied is really pretty good. I did water form it a bit and that helped out. But, the loop on the sheath really limited the attachment options. Then I got the idea to make a Kydex sheath for the leather one. Sorta a "sheath for the sheath" theme. If I had a Kydex over-sheath, then my carry options would expand a bit more. But, before you get to the pics, I must confess that this did not turn out the way that I originally had pictured. I cut the Kydex slightly too small. It was the only sheet that I had, so I had to improvise some. And, it really turned out better than I had first thought. Now, I have a sheath that I can attach to my pack, and, if I want, I can remove the leather sheath from the Kydex and still wear it on my belt. I had a MOLLE sheath from an ESEE knife that I wasnt using. Anyway, you can get the idea from the pics below.

Because of my awesome measuring ability, you can see that I did not rivet or screw the back side of the sheath together. . Heating and bending the Kydex worked pretty good here. A bit scratched up, but, I am positive that it was just bad luck, and not the Peach MoonShine that I was sippin on.

The leather sheath is really pretty snug in the Kydex and it takes some effort to get it out. Not excessive, but seems just enough. Also, will take a Ranger band and put it at the top of the Kydex, just to give it a bit extra grab. This sheath is only for when I want to carry it on a Pack.

Very cool! I like the concept a lot! The one problem with lashing a machete sheath to your pack is always that you can't carry the machete on your belt without first going through the laborious process of un-lashing the sheath--and it looks like you just found a VERY interesting way around that problem.:thumbup:

Thanks guys. Because the back side is bent, it really stiffens up the sheath along the blade side. Seems to holds its shape without being riveted. I think this is gonna work fine.
