Both are great blades. Do a search, both have been discussed here multiple times in the past with general opinion being favorable. And the Hudson Bay has been mentioned multiple times in "suggest me a camp knife" type threads for example...

Were there any specific questions you had regarding them? Great knives, both of them.

The Hudson is great. Fun, effective blade thats super cheap. The Boomslang looked great at first but I wasnt so happy when I started using it. I should have known, it's just too thick for that type of grind so it's out of box performance was pretty weak imho. After a serious re-profile it's working a lot better but I'm still not entirely sold on it... I freakin love Condor though, just about everything they make is great bang for your buck.

I'd buy a Hudson Bay if it had a longer handle. I haven't handled one but I can tell it's just too short for me.

Lately I've become more picky about handles than I have about blade shapes.
One of the nice things about affordable knives with wood handles knives is carving the handles to fit.
It doesn't help if there isn't enough handle there to start with, though.

sorry for the repost and I was just looking for performance ease of use and over all quality of the knives but I'm starting to like the HBK more if the boomslang needs work

The latest ones are a lot better. Both designs can do with a little edge work, but I provide that for a small fee.

The Condor Hudson Bay is a fun knife to have around a fixed campsite. Got one. Rather use a short machete for chopping. Lots of good reports about the Boomslang.

so the latest run of boomslangs fixed the grind issue .

sharpening up a factory edge is easy but changing a grind angle is beyond what tools I have to work with

If you are interested in the Boomslang. I would suggest you buy from 42Blades and have him add his magic touch.

By the way, I like the Condor Hudson Bay. There is something about it that is simply COOL!

I would but I'm trying to keep the cost at a minimum since its only been a month or two since I swore " never to buy another knife and if I do it won't be for years"

His services only cost about $5 or so extra, so if you can afford the Boomslang(which is likely gonna cost you at least $80 to begin with no matter where you order from), you may as well pay the slight fee and go with his improvements...that's what I did(my last order from Baryonyx was in fact these 2 knives, both with the special grade)

The HB is an awesome knife, and I would ONLY buy condor stuff from 42blades in the future. He could double his fee and it would be worth every penny.

If you want essentially a large effective chopper, go for the Boomslang. I don't have one; my chopper machete of choice of late is the Condor Pack Golok. The leather sheath makes the price right for me. Try buying an equal leather sheath for even $50.

I haven't used the Hudson Bay much. I think the handle may be a bit small for extended chopping but would work for ocassional chopping and doing things around the camp. Again, I assume you will have a smaller folder (or fixed blade) to do the detailed stuff.

yeah I have a few good benchmade folders and fixed blade BHK bushcrafter.

i also have a custom khukuri for big chopping . I'm just looking for a backup I also like the shape of the Boom and the HBK if I do get either I might have custome scales made

Sorry for bumping this thread.
Do you know when Condor changed the grind on the Boomslang?
I received mine today, sheath has the old logo and there was a 2013 product catalog in the box
The grind looks like a V, I heard that it looked like that on the old models, what does the new grind look like?
