Condor bushlore disappointment

Ordered a condor bushlore and received it yesterday. The grind was good enough. The knife has a nice weight and feel. However, the scale thickness at the butt of the knife is drastically uneven. I had low expectations in the fit and finish department but didn't expect complete asymmetry. I'm going to contact them and see what they'll do. Hopefully they will send me a new one. It would just take a glance from a quality control person to see that it shouldn't go out the door. I do like the knife and sheath enough to keep trying and hopefully get one that's mostly even. I'm mostly annoyed because I won't get to use it this weekend!

,it is nothing that you cannot easily fix with some sand paper

i had old version, gave it away to godson,he loves it,and still didn't manage to break the knife :D

It is uneven in thickness from side to side and top to bottom. From the rear it appears the handle is at a different angle than the blade. One side is very thin at the top. I wish it could be fixed by sanding. There wouldn't be much left of the scales if I made them even.

The Bushlore knife is the only Condor knife I have purchased that I was not really thrilled about relative to my intended use. I have the old one. It is not that the knife had any problems, it is just a bit too massive for my outdoor use. I have pretty much shifted it to a work knife where I might say that it functions very well for this purpose. So it was still a win for me as I don't use one of my more costly knives where it is potentially abused.

A couple of years ago, I purchased the Puerto Rican machete (no longer in their catalog) thinking it would be a good funtional size. I really hated the fit of the wood handles and as a result pretty much tossed it into my pile of unused blades. After much him-hawing around, I embarked on a major sanding effort a week or so ago with a handheld sander and got the handles down to where there are just about perfect for me. (Figured what did I have to loose if I screwed it up?) I had to take a good 1/8" off to get the fit right to the tang and then stained the final handles. Nlow I am quite pleased with it....

I suspect Condor will make things right with you.

I received a Bushlore with uneven grinds. They replaced it immediately. I'm happy with the new one I got. Good knife, especially for the money.

Yes. Amazon already refunded my money. I think I'm going to order one from 42blades and ask for the nicest one.

Glad to see Amazon did right by you. I have found they are pretty responsive and will do prepaid free return shipping (helps if you know to ask for it).

I have not bought anything from 42Blades yet but he obviously has a great reputation and sounds like a great guy. Anytime someone is willing to hand pick for you is a big advantage.

I just missed a Condor Hudson Bay on the exchange and I think I'm going to have to get one. For those of you with Condors, are those wooden grips slippery (I ask since they don't have a guard or quillons)?

If you have any trouble adding to your cart it's because I'm temporarily out of Bushlores right now. I'll be having more land tomorrow evening so they should be up on the site around 8pm EST. The latest 6+ batches I've received have been quite nice, and the number of flawed examples has easily been quartered compared to, say, two years ago. :)

I have one that looked perfect until I used it. Unfortunately the steel is terrible: the edge rolls like butter working with wood.
For the same price I much prefer a Mora.

That sucks. Never had that problem with mine.

Moras commonly roll when you first use them, too. Sharpen it back up with a li'l microbevel and it should be fine.
