Heya knife peoples,

So, my nutty self has, for almost a year or more now, played with both the Engineer Bolo and Discord machetes offered by Condor Knife and Tool. Hehe.. Some of you have read my tests and experiments before. So..without further adiue, put down your coffee and have a read. Yes, I did of course get bit a few times.as expected.

Discord..

It's a big mean mama with a attitude problem. It knows it's a bad mamma jamma. It comes fit and finished and readied with a convex edge, well shaped micarta scales, and a very nice leather sheath. It fit unusually well to my hand, and swings with fine control either in my right or left hand. It has considerable thickness for a machete, neither thin as per usual, nor bulky. Yes, the sharpened tip can and WILL bite deeply.
The blade bites deep on a swing and pulls free easily, and the cut is such that it leaves wood smooth and polished. I took thick heavy limbs off a Poplar tree, while up in said tree, as if they were butter..two swings typically, three at the largest section.

My arms were not sore so much after many limbs were dropped, despite Discord's size and weight. Through it all, though, the edge stayed true..razor sharp..and neither rolled nor chipped. I have used it regularly since I bought it, almost daily, and it has more than repaid the money I spent twice over. Extremely pleased with it. Discord has performed a myriad of tasks from tearing through weed beds, to limbing trees, to shaving wood to piles, to splitting small logs, even deweeding a large flower (pre-flowers) bed in only a few swings.

Engineer Bolo..

Hm. This mamma jamma is heavy, even by my standards, it's a bit of a heavy hander. I wish Discord were this thick..I'd have a ball! Hehehe.. At any rate.. Fit and finish are both excellent. The handle grips well and fits the hand comfortably, and as Discord..offers no hot spots. The blade is very front heavy, as is choice in a heavy chopper. It came with a very clear and THICK convex edge, which has proven capable of splitting logs..as easily as an axe. Surprised me. Hehe..this monster can take bites, very big bites and very deep. This one will fatigue most people and cause some soreness. It goes through water melon like butter. I have taken down tree limbs, though not as easily as Discord, due to the blade being much shorter.

I've made wood shavings, lit a fire, chopped fire wood, dug a small hole, taken off fish heads, etc. Excellent tool for the small price..a fine blade. For me it's as amazing as discord, and both are fine tools. I can stop the blade easily enough myself, but most folks will find the blade may be rather heavy and it is a big heavy monster of a chopper..and I do advise care and caution and proper technique with either of these tools. Take care when swinging any machete, especially a heavy one as once it's in motion there is considerable force behind those sharp edges. At any rate...these are some very nice tools, and I could not be happier with them.

+Also, the bolo sheath is very nice, it holds the tool securely and draws easily enough. I would rather have kydex, but the leather does give it a old time appeal.
+Injuries so far..cut my fingers while sharpening Discord. Very large tree limb that crashed into me when the machete cut in far deeper than expected, left me with a big head ache..hehe.
