So i have done a TON of research and debating on which one to get and can't find anything really close to what i am looking for. Here is the Info:

I have used an 18" blade ontario for the last 18 years(not the same one), I cut and chop any and everything in my way, I have even cut down a 26" thick sweet gum tree before with it (took 2 days and 4 blisters later:D, i was bored). I use it mostly for clearing land, from thorn bushes to around 4" sapplings. The two choices i have it narrowed down to are the condor el salvador with micarta handels or the condor parang. I am used to the latin style design, but i reall like the look and the thickness of the parang. just wondering what you all would think would be a better fit

It depends on what you want to cut with them, and how the handles feel in your hand. The El Salvador will be thinner and lighter (faster) than the Ontario, if you have the 1/8" thick variety.

I don't see how the el savador can be lighter and faster if they are the same thickness, size and weight, the ontario is 1.5lbs as is the condor i believe. I had also already stated in my first post what i would be using it for, " I use it mostly for clearing land, from thorn bushes to around 4" sapplings". Unfortunately, i can not handle them, so i won't know what they feel like

Indeed. The Condor is the same thickness as the Ontario standard models. I would go with the El Salvador if you want to upgrade from your Ontario, but if you're looking to round out your stable of choppers, go with with the Parang. It's a heavy chopper too...but a very different animal.:thumbup:

Sounds like you want to chop "woody" materials v. saplings & brush. If that is the case, go with the Parang. You may as well get a different blade profile than your current Ontario.

the only sucky thing about this is, i usually only carry one machete on me at a time..lol but i need the one i have to kinda be able to do it all, and i not sure the weight thing is going to bother me, i have chopped for hours and hours before with not much fatigue, plus i am a welder, so lots of muscle memory
btw, i do do a lot of brush chopping and clearing, probably 60/40 brush/woody

Not to self-plug, but this might fit the bill. It was designed to handle a wide range of targets.

A little more spendy though.

that one is really nice and HUGE, the pic doe not do the deminsions justice, but out of my price range, plus i chop mine in the dirt clearing land, and would cringe if i did that with a $160 machete. Plus i am making a crazy awesome kydex sheath for it and since it is the first one i have made, i will have to shell out over $100, just for the initial invesment

I hear ya! Just thought I'd toss it out there. :D

Another good option for you might be the Thai Enep Machete--have you given that one a look?

now i am torn AGAIN!! thanks a lot...haha The only problem i have is the handle and blade shape. I am making a kydex sheath and i would have to mock up some kinda fake blade to be able to make the sheath since that blade is narrower toward the handle, and second i would probably get micarta scales for it because i have a bad habbit sometimes of the machete flying out of my hands when i am hacking away in the summer here in texas

another issuse i just thought of, would those micarta handles on the el salvador be the .250" thick ones, because i was thinnking, i am used to about a 1 -1.5" thick handle, and at only 5/8" thick of micarta+blade would probably not "cut" it.
Is there anything i can do to that thai enep handle to make it more not so "fly out of my hands into somebody chest" look to it
