Anyone have any experience of the Condor Fidelis? I want something just to stash away as a small, light back-up knife (OK, I'm just trying to justify buying more knives!) and can get one here for around a third of the price of an ESSE Izula. Was thinking of ordering one just to see what it's like, but I'd be grateful for any user experience.

I should add that I'm just looking at it as a small general-purpose knife to help out if I need it hiking and camping.

A little bump for this thread...

I just placed an order for one. Should be here on Monday. I'll be sure to share my impressions.

Thanks a lot sqoon, I thought this thread had died a complete death! (Where's 42Blades when you need him?! ;) )

Look forward to reading your impressions :)

So am I! I paid way too much for my Candiru, (no more than what anybody else paid, but still way too much IMO,) so I can't justify another purchase right now. Still looking forward to hearing what you think of the Fidelis, though.

you could check out the reviews on the condor elegan to give you an idea, the elegan is similar to the fidelis.

I actually haven't gotten my hands on the Fidelis partly because my experience with the Elegan and other earlier neck knife models has led me to the conclusion that they're too small for me. Like, super tiny. I'd like them more if they were scaled up about 1.5x, and knives like the Buck Paklite skinner and caper put up some seriously stiff competition for the money, even if they don't come with a neck sheath.

Will be interested in hearing impressions of the Fidelis as it's one of their more attractive models in the neck knife lineup.

Thanks for your input, always good to hear what you have to say - Better late than never eh! :D ;)

I pretty much only have the Becker BK11, BK13 and BK14 to compare it to. I was close to pulling the trigger on this knife a while back, but held off because I feared it was going to be too small. Not sure what prompted me to go for it now. Perhaps it's because I just got my Golok. Woah baby!!!

jack black, if this knife is going to be stashed away as a backup, how about the condor mini bushlore?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've got other small knives that'd fulfill the same role (truth is I've got tons of knives, I'm just being greedy), but I liked the look of the Fidelis and REALLY liked the look of the price (though to be fair the MB is not a great deal more expensive here). It may be too small for me though. I've been eyeing up the Condor range for a while (I've already talked a pal into ordering a Varan) and I thought this might be a sort of small opening salvo, before I work my way up to a Boomslang! :)

My Fidelis came today. No time for pics or a video. Hopefully soon. My initial impressions are very positive. Feels good in the hand. It is thin, but with a knife that small, I can't see how being too thick would be a plus. Seems like a great neck knife that has some strengths over some of the BK&T offerings. Sheath is good. Edge is nice. Not hair popping, but very serviceable. I spent a few minutes with it on a strop and it is shaping up nicely. It is a little guy in the hands, but the perfect size for a neck knife. So far, it seems to be worth every penny.

So! How's the first week been? And, (specifically,) how well does the knife cut, compared to a SAK? I've recently pledged to myself that I won't buy any knife that doesn't cut at least as well as an SAK.
