i was at a army surplus store today and i picked up my first real flashlight on a whim, i checked out surefire, because i have heard nothing but good things about them, i wanted to get the smallest model the have the e-1 executive, i was about to buy it when the sales guy there showed me a condor flashlight which was the same exact size but about 20$ cheaper, and it had a longer battery life and a stronger beam of light. does anyone have any experience with this company? i bought the flashlight and i cant complain but i can still return it and go with the surefire if condor turns out to be a pos company. thanks for the help.

i would go with the surefire myself i havent ever heard of a company that makes flashlites called condor and i browse the net a lot looking at flashlites, i can almost guarantee they are not in the same class as surefire.

also if ya didnt compare the beams and are only going on what the salesman said different companies measure lumens differently SF is legit with what they claim, others arent so honset and often inflate the lumens and the batt run time.

just my 2 cents.

yea i made sure i checked out the two before i bought the condor, the condor was allot brighter and the light itself had a better focus one it (the more intense inner beam? was larger than the surfire) as of right now im happy with it, if it fails or i find something wrong with it ill take it back to the shop and return it, thanks for the help though. if you do find a website for the company send it my way.

I am a flashaholic myself, and have NEVER heard of Condor flashlights either. I would have gone with the SF.

so do you guys think i should return it, and get a small surefire? would pics of the light be helpfull, i could take some and get them up later tonight? im not to worried about the lack of brand power, i just want a good light.

I have never heard of Condor. Therefore I have no opinion on your purchase.

However, (imo) Surefire is over rated. There are many other flashlight options. Several provide better performance or comparable performance (depending upon model). I am not claiming that Surefire does not make quality products.

I personally do not (most of the time) like to go with what is popular. Personally I would recommend the Fenix company. Model number L2P. The price range depending upon store is between $40-$52. It has decent battery life, lightweight, bright, impact resistant and waterproof.

Also I would recommend the Inova company. Model number T1, T2 or T3. All are great. Price range varies with each unit, but the T3 is most expensive. All have unique and overlapping qualities. All of these model are extremely well engineered. You can believe the hype here. This company delivers on what they promise the consumer. Hope this helps.

Never heard of Condor either. Keep in mind that even though a flashlight may be bright to begin with, the real question is how does the light output diminish over time. As much as I love my Surefire, that thing eats 123s like me at an all-you-can-eat shrimp buffet. I EDC the Inova T5. No complaints about it.

I shop at surplus stores all the time, but you gotta be careful, because a lot of the downtown stores have crap they sell to the yuppies. I once had a nice fellow try to convince me of the new AA Surefires he had on display. They weren't due to hit retail stores for a few months, but you see, he knew this guy at the Surefire warehouse.

well im going to hold on to the light for right now, it hasnt faded and i have used it quite a bit, but ill take a look at those inova lights and some others...maybe this will become my "beater" light........lord another expensive gadget fetish is the last thing i need. last two days : 300$ zune mp3 70$ flashlight 180$ cs mini tanto......

i would return it and get a SF or fenix.

FWIW surefire is a lot of things, expensive for one, but they are a long country mile from being overated lol.

fenix makes some good stuff, inova is "ok" too, but as far as a tac lite goes SF is superior to either one, the fenix just isnt set up to do that and while the inova "T" series will work i have had a couple and they never took my SF's place.

now if ya just want a utility lite the fenix P1D-CE is hard to beat, add a leaf tube and its at the top.

I have a Surefire. A very good friend gave it to me for my birthday. It is a nice light, top quality. But it chews through batteries like nobody's business. One of these days I'll get around to getting a KL-1 head for it. But I doubt I'll buy another Surefire. For this poor joe, it's on the other side of the law of diminishing returns.

I've been pretty impressed with Inova. The X1 and X5 are both good values. I carry both frequently. Long battery life is a plus for me. I also like the looks of the T series. Whenever I need a new strong spot I know what I'll be getting, a T1 or T2.

But my reigning king of the spot lights is a Nuwai made/ River Rock brand. $20at Target, 1.5W, 2AA. Bright, good throw, long battery life. The anodizing has really held up. And by the light drop off appears to have pretty good regulation. It made a good showing on last year's camping trip and I expect it'll make a good showing on this year's camping trip. It's gotten almost daily use around the car and house for over a year now. It's a far better performer than its price, or country of origin, would indicate.

I would like to see a long term review for the Condor. Might be surprising.
