A few people have asked "since you have both the first batch of Goloks as well as the newer ones, what's the difference?"
Well, the first generation Golok that I have belongs to Joezilla and feels very, very similar to the second-generation model that I got from Condor (via SMKW). Yes, it should feel the same; this is the same exact knife mode. However, there are a few subtle differences.

These are the ones I've noticed; if you see more, please let me know by posting below.

The Handles:
On the newer Golok (pictured on the top in the photo) the handle pins are larger in diameter and seem less rounded; the pins in the older Golok are definitely more uniform while the newer ones seem to have a few rough corners.

The handle on the newer Golok (the first one in the photo below) also has a larger, more flared lanyard hole. The lanyard hole on the first generation Golok looks to be just a length of brass pipe, while the second-generation one looks to be more finished.

The last handle difference is the thickness. The newer Golok (again, on the top) has slightly thicker handle. I tried to line them up for a perfect shot, but this is what I got.

The thickness is noticeable, and I greatly prefer the first-generation's handle.

The Blade:
The Goloks have pretty similar blades, and the only difference I've noticed is the tip. The first-generation Golok (this time on top) has more of a round shape, whereas the second-generation is more gradual and has less of a "belly".

These are the only differences I've noticed, and they're minor differences. The Condor Golok is very well-made and I highly recommend it. I did a review of it here...

Buy one. Buy two if you really like goloks, parangs, or just machetes in general.

They look good man. The handles look really comfortable for extended heavy use.

Unless a person has huge hands the first generation models would appear to have a better handle fit for average size hands. I suppose that is fixable with sandpaper but that's a lot of work. Also, I prefer the flatter, more golok type blade profile of the first generation. The second generation appears to be a regular machete tip profile with the upswepped tip. When I eventually get one of these I will be grinding down that blade tip to more resemble one of my traditional Valiant golok tips.

Those Condor goloks do look like a bargain though for what they are selling for and well worth the time it would take to modify to my tastes.

I look at the thick handle as a design feature--you can sand it to fit your hand exactly. It doesn't take that long to do, especially if you whittle away material to do the rough work.:)

Just bought one, truly full tang, beautiful finish and overall design, it is distal tapered, if that is what it is called when it gets thinner up front
Only two very minor dislikes i have, 1: the edge is rather low, seems a bit thick for a machete 2: The handle is a bit too thick up front & at the back, i have tiny hands

Yes, you can sand down the handles, but the pins are a pain to sand down or is there a better method to accomplish this?

I have two of the first generation Goloks (one I use and one spare) as I like them a lot. I am thinking that the "second generation" goloks have the same handle dimensions as the Pack Golok and the Village Parang. I find the handle on my Pack Golok just a tad too thick for my hands, but I really like the blade. Haven't used the Village Parang much as of yet, but I know I will like it. I like the wood handles and choose those over other materials.

I have used Linseed Oil on my handles as they didn't look nearly as "finished" as the ones pictured when I got them. They are a tad sticky until they fully dry.
