Wow, I just got it today. This thing is amazing!

The first thing I noticed about this machete is that the walnut handle slabs were very nicely smoothed. They feel and look great. I had heard numerous comments about them being very rough upon delivery, and needing to smooth them out oneself.

And then I noticed another thing that blew me away: the tang is now full construction-- all the way through the knob! Impressive indeed. Did anyone know about this new improvement?

The edge is very sharp-- even sharper than my 1/8" Bolo. Great heft and balance. I bought the sheath also. It's an awesome sheath and fits the golok very snugly.

The golok is $29.95 and the sheath is $18.95.

Condor is the new superstar kid on the cutlery block, IMO. I can see myself buying many of their items. Between this golok and my bolo the cost to value ratio of their products is difficult to comprehend.

I can't wait to take these suckers out in the woods in a couple months and give them some serious workouts.

If I remember I will post some pics tomorrow evening.

Full tang? Where did you get yours from?

I am trying to picture the full tang with a knob? was the handle redesigned/ shaped?

Hi ron,

Hopefully I can post some pics (links) tomorrow.

It's a pretty awesome improvement.

Handle is the same shape, only now it is slabs rather than one piece.
Same as most full tang fixed blades.
So, blade/tang is ground to shape, including the "ball" dropping down.
Then, wood slabs are pinned to it, finishing said machete.
It totally kicks ass; quality feel, and it actually shaves arm hair out of the box easily.

Please tell me you got yours from Machete Specialists.

Thanks Stabman, got it now. I never really liked the BALL feature, though it is a great tool in all other respects. I thought the golok blade with the parang handle would have been awesome.

It's all about personal taste.:)
The ball cinched the deal for me; it just makes retention when chopping so easy.
What you suggest does sound interesting though...

I really like the Golok. I will likely pick another up in a few months as I want a full tang version as well. The current one is great, but a full tang can only improve IMO.

My Golok came in today from Machete Specialists, and it's full tang. This is a substantial chunk of steel. While not razor sharp, I like the convex grind. I'll enjoy touching this one up. The handle seems a touch wide, but I can get used to that. The handle wood smells of Central America.

EDIT: The sheath is good. I think I'd like to give it a beeswax treatment, though it can surely get by w/out it. I don't know why some have said the sheath is "pleathery".
