Condor Golok from Local Store

I stopped by Sportsman's Warehouse today, and I was surprised to see they had Condor Goloks in stock as well as the Bushlore, and two sizes of Bushcraft Knives. At first the Golok seemed a lot smaller than I expected, but after handling it I decided to get one. (I've been waiting for them to come back in to stock online for a couple months now) This way I got to check the grinds which were pretty good on all the ones I saw. The Bushlore knife which I liked the blade shape of better than the bushcraft was surprisingly thick, like a little over 3/16" I would guess, and the grind wasn't all that great, so just a word of warning if you plan to get one online, it'll take some work to get it in shape. I can't wait to try it outside, but right now it's snowing/raining, so it might be awhile. Here's some pics for you guys.

Sorry some of them are a bit out of focus.

Cool!!

Lucky Dog. Id probably wet myself with excitment if I ran into some new Condors in a store. Especially the Golok.

Hella cool.

You could probably buy 'em and resell them to some guys here :)

I was playing with one at sportsmans just yesterday. The Golok is a lot heavier then I was expecting. Nice, but damn heavy.

Thats what makes it "not" a machete :P
You cut with these on a pull cut. Try it, you'll love it I promise

Oh, I plan on it Joe. I had them put it aside for me already. I will be picking it up tomorrow. I picked up the small bushcrafter for my son, its his first knife. I started a thread on this the other day actully. I did have to look through about 6 of the same knife. Each had a different grind, and some were recurves. I would deffinitly say who ever wants one of the Condor blades, try and look and hold it first, unless you have the means to redo the edge profile.

Brief Rant On:

This would be great news if all The Sportsman's Warehouses in the midwest hadn't closed...

Brief Rant Off.

Good score brother, I hope you enjoy it

Yeah, when I first saw it in the case next to the Bolo machete I thought it looked kinda small, but after holding it I really like the weight of it and once you're holding it, it feels bigger. I forgot about the tapered thickness too, it starts out nice and thick at the tang and gets to about machete thickness towards the tip. I really like the feel of the handle too, it's comfortable and secure feeling.

Next years bushlore is getting a massive facelift and quality control recall. Thats all I can say. I'm trying pretty hard here to keep these guys economical.

I don't know why (because they just opened a new Bass Pro not 10 miles from it), but the Sportman's Warehouse in Ankeny stayed open. But I don't know how long they will be open, their inventory was way down.

I was there yesterday and saw this golok, but didn't have time to play with it. Id didn't even notice the price.

So this has a primary grind right? I'd be curious to see a photo facing the edge by the handle to see the thickness.

The does take a bit of working over to get the edges straight and even but when your done, you have one TANK of a bushcrafter. I hope they don't change it much.

I'll get that picture up tomorrow night after work if I can, and I think the bushlore was 30 and the bushcrafts were around 25 +/- a couple dollars.
