I like these. Which do you all think would be the better tool for processing firewood or shelter building?

Goloks are generally used to do both of those tasks, but they can also fill the machete function for cleaning a camp site and doing more large scale work. The Thai Enep style knife has been used for ages, for smaller work (including fire building) but things like working in gardens, processing animals, working in the kitchen. Think of it like a mulitpurpose camp knife.
I design for Condor So I'm bias in that regard, so I would like to point out there there are some other cool things out there like Valiant Co that have great goloks and parangs, and Bill Siegle, David Farmer, and a few other makers on here make Golok-eque tools regularly. Ka-Bar has a new 14" machete out that can handle hard work. Also check out Storm Crow. He has some bush swords that are pretty awesome looking.

I'm pretty much set on trying a Condor. I'm leaning towards the golok since it looks useful for yard work as well a woods or camp tool.

Offhand, does a CS bolo sheath fit a Condor golok?

The condor Golok is a great tool - but if you're going to order one, get it with the Condor Leather sheath, it's much more protective than the CS nylon. (I have no experience with the thai enep knife, but I do have a thai enep machete and it's not bad, either)

I think it would, but the leather sheath is SO much better. It's worth every penny and then some. I HATE the CS sheaths

The Condor Golok is a great tool. If you go that route, you will NOT be disappointed with it. As said, the Condor leather is a great sheath, especially considering the price. The nylon sheaths I am not a fan of, but the Condor leather is great.

I just received a Condor Parang last week with the leather sheath. Its a very nice sheath even nicer when you consider the price. I haven't gotton around to using it yet but it looks great and the fit and finish are fantastic.

That swivel on the belt loop makes a HUGE difference, too. Easier to carry, easier to draw.

Yup! The golok just came back in on Wednesday night--I'm just inspecting them now. Once they pass they'll go up on the site, and there might be a few "Grade B" items as well! I'll be posting in the Exchange section, the Facebook, and the mailing list once stuff is back up. Hoping to get the Eneps in both sizes back in stock really soon. :)

I just placed an order for a golok; looking forward to trying it! Also glad to order from a place in my region.

I here you on ordering close to home--it helps you avoid the antsy-pants waiting dance! :D:D:D

Your gonna love the Golok ! I hope you got the leather sheath with it...it's well worth the money ! & rides great on your hip !

Nope--but I'll be placing another order tomorrow to replace some stuff that I ran out of today. So if you'd like me to tack one on, shoot me a PM or email. ;)
