Im on a hunt for an affordable good quality axe. . though i prefer big knives.. (a bolo).. since we mostly have bamboos and brushes here, i started to learn that i do need an axe for certain applications.. i want something that i can easily carry (on my backpack or on my belt) Will use it in clearing fallen trees blocking roads after hurricanes, may also add it to my bug-out bag, and on certain hikes.

I want something that resembles to the size of the GS small forest axe.. and it seems the Condor greenland pathfinder ed. and the condor woodworker fits to the category.

Im kinda leaning towards to the woodworker, its unique axe head seemed useful in many applications... i also like the size.

May i have your opnions brothers?

Thank you.

I have no experince with those piticlure modles, but if u are still shoping around then i really like the fiskars hatchets an axes ive had really good luck with them.

Next time you're in a hardware store or online check out a rigger's hatchet. It's what I've always carried when I packed "ax." I modified an old one I had and it was a good move.

The hammer head is killer useful in the wild.

If you want something in the size and weight of the SFA, then go with the woodworker. I have a SFA and recently picked up a 25-26 inch axe. The additional size and weight make the SFA feel toy like to me now. And yet because I am 6'2 and 260 I like this latest axe which feels more like what I was looking for originally with the SFA. Something less than a long full sized axe, but still hefty enough to get things done. If you are a smaller framed person or want light weight and packability, that smaller Woodworker may be your best bet. Because of my size and personal preferences, I can treat a larger axe like an upgraded SFA. To each their own, that's how I roll.

I love Condor products and own more than a few. There have been design and quality questions about the axes since they came out. Resolved? For me, I would just get the GB Forest Axe if I wanted a good one. I don't use an axe enough to justify a "good one" personally. So, give a Condor a shot and I would be interested in hearing about your experiences.

Added: I think your choice should depend on how much you are likely to use it and how far and often will you be carrying it.

I have a Greenland axe and I find the metal to be too soft.
I would dish out the extra money and get a wetterling's axe.
If money is tight I would get a husqvarna axe (I have one and I love it). The are hultafors axes at a discount: I love mine.

Gransfors Bruk is the way I would go. For carrying in a pack I would go no larger than the Wildlife Harchet, it's the perfect size for toting around. They do make a small forest axe but that's a larger and heavier axe to take back packing or hiking.

I have the Wildlife Hatchet and it will shave the hair off your arm right out if the box. It's also very handsome and well made. Mine has seen little hard use this far but it cuts and shapes wood well
