Been eyeballing this knife lately and I can see some promising potential with a little work put in.

I don't see them posted online much, despite hearing good things from those who have talked about them.

Few questions though, what blade finish do the current models have? I've seen them smooth and blacked and hammer finished and blacked. Also, my old models of Condor were sold with amazing black leather sheaths, but the newer ones came with a nice but not as nice brown sheath. IS brown the new black?

And.. those of you who have used one, what's your opinion on the knife? Seems a good enough deal for the price so far.

Cheers!

If you are familiar with Nutnfancy on Youtube, he did a review of this knife just a day or so ago. Maybe that will help.

I also have one, it's a good chopper although heavy. Good price too for what you get. Mine has the hammered finish.

I don't believe the current ones have the hammered finish. Mine has it and I kind of like the look. The leather sheath is brown and I believe they were always brown. It's good with the weak link being the rivet attaching the belt attachment. People say that as you use them a bit, the sheath will loosen up some and the knife could drop out if turned upside down.

It's a fun knife.

Current ones have an improved hammer finish rather than the ugly pockmarked-looking one still seen in some stock images. The sheath has always been brown as far as I recall. The rivets are fine as I've had some of their large heavier machetes for almost a decade now without any issues. The concern with the knife falling out if the sheath is turned upside down is a little silly, 'cause it ain't kydex and it's deep carry. Sheaths that don't have active retention of the knife have been used for hundreds if not thousands of years without issue, so while it's a good reason not to hold your sheath upside down, it's not a very practical concern for the overwhelming majority of applications. :)

I have had no problems with the rivet. I was mostly repeating what others have said. Yes, to the upside down issue and I have no issue with that either. I like the knife personally and have always liked the knife. I want to get the Moonshiner. Picked up a Kumunga (10" blade) at Blade and I have been having fun with it. It's sort of between a knife and machete in size and the handle is comfortable.

It is an exceptional knife. I still use it in the factory configuration and it has cracked open countless coconuts with nary a blemish on the edge. Mine is a year old and came with a hammer finish. Bears repeating that it is a hell of a lot of blade for the money.

Oh, to clarify I know you were just mentioning what others have expressed rather than your own opinion. I was just providing the counterpoint to those concerns. :)

I sew a piece of leather inside the mouth of the sheath for extra retention as I am so a**l about this kind of things. Much better now. Out of the stock mine was loosey.
