New member... first post. Married for a quarter century, 20+ years law enforcement, martial artist, camper, hunter, kayaker, avid reader. There is "me" in a nutshell.

Has anyone here bought/used the Condor Kephert? I've read every review I can find online and there are good and bad opinions.

Good: Low cost and sturdy. Nice repo of a classic.

Bad: Hit and miss fit of the scales to the tang. It has a "painted" finish.

I am close to the Smokey Mountain Knife Store that is is in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. I may drop by to handle one. I bought my son the Condor Nessmuk and out of four in the shop only one was worth owning. The others had problems of fit to finish of the scales, crooked makers stamp and the wood grain was just not pretty. BUT, the one I got him had nice grain and was very nice. So, I personally saw the quality concerns that a lot of people have expressed.

I just purchased a handmade knife from Mineral Mountain Hatchet Works (and spent a couple hundred of dollars) so I am in the doghouse with my wife about knife purchases. So, I am looking for a reasonably priced woods runner.

Opinions please?
