Condor kukuri machette

Hey ladies and gentlemen

I was wondering if anyone knew what the notches in the blade on the Condor kukuri were designed to be functional or if it is just a visual? I am not sure but they look like they might be used for wire fence or something along that line.

The notches are called the Kaura or Cho, and they're traditional. There are various explanations for them, most describe the notch as representing Shiva or the Hindu trident.
